Local F-147 regrets to announce the passing of former Assistant Chief David L. Carter. Chief Carter passed away at the age of 86 on September 11, 2011 at Haven Hospice in Edison NJ. Chief Carter was a charter member of Local F-147. Chief Carter helped lay the groundwork for what is now a strong and proud Union. Before his career as a Federal Firefighter, Chief Carter served proudly on the USS Bunker Hill as a Torpedoman during World War II. He was a lifelong resident of Point Pleasant where he also served as a Volunteer Firefighter with Point Pleasant Fire Company #1. He also served on the NJ State Exempt Firemen's Association, the Sons of the American Revolution, and was a charter member of the V.F.W. Post #4715, Point Pleasant Beach. Thank you for your service to not only the US Navy and your local community but to our Base and Union as well. Rest in Peace Chief Carter.
