Local F-147 regrets to announce the passing of retired Station Chief Joseph L. McCarthy. Chief Mac passed on Monday, April 13th 2015 at Compassionate Care Hospice at Saint Francis Medical Center, Trenton.
Chief Mac was an honorably discharged veteran of the US Navy, having served in the Korean War on the USS Kearsarge. After retiring from the Federal Fire Service, Chief Mac served as a special police officer with the Franklin Township Police Department. Chief Mac was an avid hunter and fisherman who was known to stop into the firehouse for breakfast before heading off into the woods to hunt. He will be missed!
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, April 19th 2015 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Saul Colonial Home located at 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square NJ. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 20th starting at 12 p.m. at the same location.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Chief McCarthy and his entire family. Rest in peace
